China Anne McClain Was Destined To be a Superhero & Joins CW's 'Black Lightning'

China Anne McClain is going to be a superhero’s daughter!

The Descendants 2 actress has joined The CW’s Black Lightning, according to Deadline, in an exciting new role.

China will play Jennifer Pierce, an independent, outspoken scholar-athlete with a wild streak of her own.

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams): He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter, Jennifer (McClain) hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.

In the comics, Jennifer and her older sister Anissa actually follow in their father’s footsteps and become superheroes, taking on the names of Lightning and Thunder.
