JJJ: What would you say is the most versatile shade in the palette?
AT: I would say all three highlighters – Kayla, Nessa, and LeLe. You can easily use them as eyeshadows and each one is so beautiful!
JJJ: Were there any friends that you wanted to name a shade after, but couldn’t because they were all taken?
AT: I have many friends so definitely wish I had more, but I chose the people closest to me.
JJJ: Do you personally have a favorite shade in the palette?
AT: My personal favorite is Sammy, I love a rust colored eye shadow. Especially for brown eyes, it really pops!

JJJ: Do you have a favorite product that Illuminate has put out?
AT: I do! The lashes! They haven’t come out yet but they will very soon. Everyone knows I love individual lashes so I’m excited to have my very own!
JJJ: Not a lot of people know what goes on behind-the-scenes when you’re making these cosmetics. Can you explain just how much work goes into it?
AT: A lot of work, a lot of time! The Goddess palette was created a year ago. Also people don’t realize we will get the samples and there could be the smallest thing off about it and has to be sent back. I take pride in giving my customer products that is as perfect as it can be.
JJJ: A ton of beauty bloggers actually love the products you’re putting out. What have been some of your favorite reviews/looks they have done?
AT: Carli Bybel used my cream cheek and lip tint in one of her tutorials. I love that she did that because sometimes people might not know how to use a cream for cheeks so they get scared by it. Cream is the only thing I use on my cheeks because it has a very illuminating effect more than powder.
JJJ: There are a ton of colors in the lip glosses. Do you have a go-to color that you favor?
AT: We have even more coming! Matte liquid lipsticks! I would have to say my favorite lip glosses is skinny dipping and coral reef!
JJJ: Would Illuminate ever expand to skin care or even nail polishes?
AT: I love nail polish as well, but right now we are just focused on makeup!
JJJ: When you set out to do this cosmetics line, was there something in other brands you weren’t finding that you needed/wanted?
AT: I felt everything was so expensive. I wanted to create something that didn’t lose the quality but was affordable. I’m a huge fan Of BH Cosmestics specifically for that. I think their products hold up next to any line in Sephora, with makeup you’re consistently wanting to try new things and it makeup gets old so you need to replace it. Always remember it’s not about the name on the box or the price it’s about how good the product is!
JJJ: What is your go-to look using just your palettes and products?
AT: I love a cat eye or smoky eye, and with the beach goddess and night goddess I achieve both of those. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and play with colors so with The Goddess palette there’s purples and blues.
JJJ: You’ve personally had many hair colors (which you totally rock), and know exactly what kind of makeup looks good with the color. Are there any tips you have for fans who have certain hair colors?
AT: I think it’s more about the eye color and what looks best with that! Eye color and skin tones. Warm colors are always going to look good with brown eyes where cooler tones will look good with blue eyes. I change more of my cheek color when changing hair color. Sometime when I go darker I don’t want to look washed out so I might change up the cheek with a more pink undertone.
JJJ: Is there one makeup trick that you haven’t really learned/caught onto yet? Like ombre lips…
AT: That’s definitely one for sure! I have never tried an ombr lip.
JJJ: Are there any other makeup brands that you do look to for inspiration in new products?
AT: I like to look at makeup brands like Tom Ford, Mac and Charlotte Tilsbury for inspiration. I go around the makeup counters and test everything and see how I can make it just as good or every better.
JJJ: Is there one beauty secret/trick that everyone should know and do?
AT: Use your lipstick as your blush to create a monochromatic look!
