Madison Beer Talks Dealing With Online Bullies in a Powerful New Radio Interview
Madison Beer has spoken out before about how to deal with bullies online, but now she is really opening up about her experiences in a brand-new interview.
“I deal with it every day,” the 18-year-old “Dead” singer said on the Elvis Duran Show this morning, “I wake up in the morning and I’m told to kill myself 30 times already. People say ‘this is what you signed up for,’ but that shouldn’t come along with making music and following my dreams. I think it’s upsetting that those two go hand-in-hand now because of social media.”
She also gave advice to her fans who might be facing some of the same hate online that she does.
“If you’re having a bad day and you go on Twitter and see craziness being said about you, it hurts,” she continued, “It sucks. I think a lot of people would say [to] ignore it, move on and don’t pay anything attention to it, but I always think it’s okay to stand up for yourself. I don’t think you should ever feel like you have to ignore [bullying].”
Madison is completely right: bullying is never okay, even when anonymous.
