'Once Upon A Time' Is Putting a Much Different Spin on Princess Tiana For the New Season

Remember how in The Princess and the Frog, Tiana was a waitress who was working towards saving money to buy her own restaurant?

Well, all that is changing when it comes to Once Upon A Time‘s new season.

It looks like Tiana (Mekia Cox) will be called Sabine, at least that’s her cursed counterpart’s name, and get a flashback treatment according to EW.

“We’re not redoing the movie, but we’re taking it as a jumping off point,” executive producer Adam Horowitz said. “We have a OUAT spin.”

Also, Tiana’s mom Eudora, who will be played by Riverdale‘s Robin Givens, is actually a noblewoman. Um, don’t remember that from the movie either.

Eudora is described as “formerly wealthy, now facing financial disaster, she handles the transition with grace and inner moral strength.”

As a site who loves everything about The Princess and The Frog movie, we’re not sure if we’re going to love this. We’ll try, but no promises.
