Rowan Blanchard Got To Shadow Director Ava DuVernay on 'A Wrinkle In Time' Set

Rowan Blanchard will star in the upcoming A Wrinkle in Time in a mysterious role.

While she’s unable to tell you a lot of about it, the former Girl Meets World actress and activist can say that her “character represents a big theme in the movie,” she shared with Elle.

Rowan adds, “I kind of represent the humanized version of a big theme. I sort of play the bully of Meg Murry.”

But that’s not the big takeaway here — the big takeaway is that after she wrapped her scenes, Rowan stuck around on set and shadowed acclaimed director Ava DuVernay.

“It was really amazing. I’m so grateful to shadow her,” she says.

Rowan adds, “She taught me what it looks like when a set works really well; when you create a project where everyone wants to be there, and everyone is excited about the work and is respected for their work.”

“It was nice to be reminded of how much hard work goes into movies, and how as a director, it’s your job to acknowledge and channel that hard work. She’s amazing at that.”

A Wrinkle in Time will be out in theaters next year.
