Kelsea Ballerini Never Thought New Single 'I Hate Love Songs' Would Actually Make Her New Album
Kelsea Ballerini heads out of ITV Studios after her appearance on a local show in London, England on Thursday (March 8).
The 24-year-old country singer is in town for the 2018 C2C: Country to Country event, where she’ll be performing ahead of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
Speaking in a new interview, Kelsea admitted that she never thought her new single, “I Hate Love Songs”, would make her new album, Unapologetically.
“The first line of the song is, ‘I hate Shakespeare and Gosling’ and it’s just such a fun, quirky kind of Dr. Seuss rhyme kind of song,” Kelsea says. “As soon as we wrote it we were like, ‘This is so fun’, but I actually didn’t think that it was going to make the record.”
Since she was in that mindset, Kelsea decided to play it at the Grand Ole Opry “just so it would have a life and I’d never gotten a reaction like that at the Opry before.”
She continues, “It was really reactive so I was like, ‘well, I guess I need to take something off the album and put this on instead.’ (laughs) So we did very last minute.”
“I Hate Love Songs” will be released March 12, 2018 as the album’s second official single.
FYI: Kelsea is wearing an Elisabetta Franchi jacket, a Ba & sh skirt, an AS by DF bodysuit, Steve Madden heels, Gorjana rings, and Murkani earrings.
