Nathan Chen Wraps Up Season By Winning Gold at World Figure Skating Championships 2018

If you’ve been following Nathan Chen since the Olympics last month, than you know over the weekend, he blew all of his competition away at the 2018 World Figure Skating Championships!

The 18-year-old figure skater came back from a disappointing outcome at the Olympics, to break pretty much all the records before him at the event.

Nathan earned 321.40 points, which was almost 50 points ahead of the second place finisher, Japan’s Shoma Uno (he won silver at the Olympics).

He also attempted, and landed, six quads in his long program; became the first figure skater from the US to win the World Championships since Evan Lysacek in 2009, and the youngest since Russia’s Evgeni Plushenko in 2001.

“Genuinely so grateful for the experiences–both good and bad–and for the love and support I’ve received all season,” Nathan shared on Instagram later. “Thanks everyone!!”

Next up for Nathan: deciding on a college!
