Camila Cabello & Demi Lovato Both Passed on This Amazing Hit Song - Find Out Why

“The Middle” by Zedd and Maren Morris is one of the catchiest songs ever and we’re not going to hide the fact that it’s on our #1 playlist at all.

We were blown back by the fact that Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello and countless others actually had the chance to be on the track instead of Maren, but passed on it.

According to Variety, Demi and Camila actually passed on the track for the same reason.

“Demi really liked it but Sarah [Aarons, writer] was not happy with the verse,” Monsters & Strangerz’s Stefan Johnson shared.

After a re-cut record, producers admit that Demi “sounded awesome and we were really hyped on it, but then we didn’t hear anything after a couple weeks and other people were hitting us up about the song, so we asked: ‘Is this gonna be a single for Demi?’”

Demi was actually trying to choose her new single, and with the choice of “The Middle” and “Sorry Not Sorry”, she went for the latter.

“Demi thought it was too pop, she’s trying to go more soulful and urban. We were super bummed,” they added.

Camila was next in line for the song, and her version is “incredible”, Stefan says. “I sent Camila a text about it, and she’s usually very responsive, and there was no reply. So I’m, like, what’s going on?”

At this time, around September 2017, “Havana” is Camila‘s huge breakout hit and that’s when they find out that “Camila’s out. She doesn’t want any song to overshadow ‘Havana’.”
