Saniyya Sidney Is Pretty in Pink At 'The Passage' Premiere
Saniyya Sidney shows off her pearly white teeth with a big smile at the premiere of The Passage held at The Broad Stage on Thursday night (January 10) in Santa Monica, Calif.
The 12-year-old actress stars as Amy Bellafonte, a 10-year-old orphan who finds herself at the center of an apocalyptic science experiment in a world plagued by vampires and a deadly virus.
Saniyya revealed to Variety that she didn’t know her character was originally written as white until her dad told her at the audition.
“I was like, ‘Oh, she is?’” she shared. “And when I got it, I was like, ‘Oh, this is going to be different.’”
Saniyya adds, “To be able to be an African-American girl that was originally white in the books, I’m honored, but I believe it’s no different. As long as you connect with how she is and just connect with Amy was important, and that’s what I put first before anything.”
The Passage premieres Monday, January 14th on Fox.
