Josephine Langford Reveals How She Connected With 'After's Tessa

Josephine Langford is just days away from making her debut as Tessa in After on the big screen, and in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar Australia, she’s revealing just how she connected to the character.

“There was just this energy about Tessa that I felt I could connect with, I could understand the way she thinks,” the 21-year-old actress shared with the glossy in their May 2019 issue.

Josephine adds, “She has a very helpful inner dialogue in the story and when I read it, I had this intense feeling of really wanting to make sure she wasn’t portrayed as a caricature of a ‘good girl’. I really liked the journey that she goes on being a young woman exploring her sexuality, and to have that be the story, to see that from her perspective, there was just something about it that I thought was very empowering and very important.”

What’s next for Josephine after After?

“I would say I’m winging it,” she laughs. “I don’t think you can really shape a career, it just happens. I’m focused on finding characters I connect to.”

After is out in theaters on Friday, April 12th.
