Vanessa Hudgens Opens Up About Her 'Breaking Free' Karaoke Performance That Went Viral

Vanessa Hudgens almost broke the internet last week when she performed “Breaking Free” from High School Musical during a karaoke outing.

The 30-year-old actress first performed the song when she starred in the popular DCOM as Gabriella Montez.

Speaking with ET, Vanessa opened up about how the moment came about.

“I was having the time of my life,” she shared. “Yes, I was. It was just, I did this independent film and it was a tiny little bubble that we created and we were all like family and that was my last night that I was gonna be with everyone, so I put on a little vintage dress that I had bought in town and proceeded to sing karaoke the entire night because it was my last night. I had sang a little bit. I sang Evanescence. And everyone was screaming, ‘Wake me up!’ You’ll see it at some point.”

Vanessa added about the “Breaking Free” moment: “A girl came up to me and she was like, ‘Vanessa?’ I was like, ‘Yeah?’ She’s like, ‘You know my go-to karaoke song?’ Like, what? She said ‘Breaking Free.’ And I was like, we should sing it together. So, it happened.”

We love this!
