Jo Ellen Pellman to Play Emma in 'The Prom' Movie!

The only role left to be cast in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of the Broadway musical The Prom has been the lead role of Emma… and now we know who will play the part!

Newcomer Jo Ellen Pellman has landed the coveted role and she will be joining a star-studded cast that also includes Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Andrew Rannells, Kerry Washington, Keegan-Michael Key, Awkwafina, and Ariana DeBose.

The movie will follow “Emma, a high school senior in Indiana who is banned from taking her girlfriend to the prom. Following the controversial decision, four Broadway stars (Streep, Corden, Kidman, and Rannells), in an attempt to champion a good cause and not-so-coincidentally rehabilitate their careers, head to the small town to support Emma.”

Deadline reports that the movie will begin shooting next month and other actors who joined the supporting cast include Logan Riley Hassel, Sofia Deler, Nico Greetham, and Nathaniel J. Potvin.
