Ashley Tisdale Opens Up About Her Powerful Arc in Netflix's 'Merry Happy Whatever' as Kayla: 'The Support Is Overwhelming'

Ashley Tisdale bundles up in a chic green coat after her appearance at Build Series in New York City on Monday (December 2).

The actress, producer and beauty mogul met up with her Merry Happy Whatever co-star Dennis Quaid to promote the Netflix series, and focused on her character, Kayla’s, powerful coming out story.

“It’s been overwhelming,” Ashley says of the fans’ reaction to Kayla’s arc. “I wanted to do it right, playing that role and I was really careful about it. I was just hoping that people would be inspired…as an actor, you hope to inspire people but the fact that people really [resonated]. It’s very different for me. I don’t think people have seen me do something like this before so it’s overwhelming, but so great.”

Later on, Ashley shared one of the tweets from fans on her social media.

“When playing a character you can only hope to inspire someone. Thank you for this. Thank you to all the overwhelming support on me playing Kayla. ❤️ #merryhappywhatever,” she wrote.
