Cody Simpson Thanks Fans & Promises More Music & 'First Collection of Poetry' in 2020

Cody Simpson is opening up about the past decade in his latest social media post.

The 22-year-old musician looked back on how his career got started and his outlook for the future.

“Bringing in the new decade last night. Just so stoked I get to play music for a living,” Cody shared with a slideshow of pics of him performing. “Ten years ago I was sitting in a motel room in New York about take my first record label meetings. I dragged my dad with me because I told him I was going to go alone if he didn’t come. All I knew was that I wanted an unconventional life of creativity & music from then on until the day I died.”

He continues, “I was too eager to see the wide wide world & I sure have now. I was ready to leave school—thought it was a sham anyway. I wanted to be a pirate. I wanted to be a poet. A musician. I envisioned an almost mythological life outside the society we’d accepted as the norm.”

“These last ten years have taught me more than I could have ever bargained for, & most of all it’s brought me to you all,” Cody writes. “Thanks for hanging with me this past decade throughout my myriad phases & styles & transitions. We are going into the next one I couldn’t be more stoked to share it with you. I’ve been tucked away working on the next project, the next thing.”

He also shared that more music is on the way, just not right away: “I no longer want to release for the sake of releasing so I am taking extra time to make sure I’m giving it to you honest—clear & pure. Music & my first collection of poetry is guaranteed this year. Thank you again—I’d give you guys the shirt off my back, you put it there!”
