Millicent Simmonds Books 'Role of a Lifetime' as Helen Keller In New Movie!

Millicent Simmonds is set to portray Helen Keller in an upcoming movie!

The 18-year-old deaf A Quiet Place actress has been cast as the deafblind author and activist in Helen & Teacher, Deadline reports.

She will star alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Anne Sullivan, who will play Helen’s “committed yet controlling translator and companion.”

Here’s a synopsis: Set during the early 1900’s, the movie will follow Keller’s tumultuous time at Radcliffe College of Harvard University when her rapidly expanding worldview and sexual awakening brings her into direct conflict with the more conservative Sullivan. When Ms. Sullivan is courted by the young and brilliant publisher, John Macy, tensions escalate between the two women threatening the bonds of their friendship.

Fun fact: Millicent is also reportedly a distant cousin of Helen Keller!

“This is the role of a lifetime for me. Humbled and honored to portray one of the most extraordinary women of our time,” she wrote on Instagram with the casting news.
