Here’s a synopsis: King Louis XIV’s quest for immortality leads him to capture a mermaid’s life force, but his immovable will is challenged when his long-hidden illegitimate daughter (Scodelario) forms a bond with the magical creature.

Based on Vonda N. McIntyre’s novel “The Moon and the Sun” and narrated by Julie Andrews, the movie also stars Pierce Brosnan, Benjamin Walker, Rachel Griffiths, Bingbing Fan and William Hurt.

The King’s Daughter hits theaters THIS Friday (January 21).
