Matt Barr Cast as Lead In 'Walker' Prequel Series!

Matt Barr is set to lead the cast of the potential Walker prequel series!

The actor has been tapped as the male lead in Walker: Independence, where he will portray 1800s Hoyt Rawlins, according to Deadline.

Walker: Independence is set to follow Abby Walker, who begins a quest for revenge after her husband is murdered before her eyes while the couple is heading out West. Along the way, she crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlings, a rogue in search of purpose. Their journey takes them to Independence, Texas, as they form a newfound family who struggles with the world around them.

Deadline reveals that Hoyt Rawlins in the prequel series is “a gambler and an outlaw who lays low in the town of Independence. Cocky, confident, brash and a bit foolhardy, he’s been having an on-again, off-again affair with rancher’s daughter Lucia Montero — but after meeting Abby, Hoyt’s wandering eye appears to have frozen in place. Well aware that Abby is a straight arrow, Hoyt realizes he might have a lot to learn from her, seeing someone who might help him step away from the life of an outlaw, taking a side for change to fight for truth, justice and the Texan way.”

If you remember, Matt previously portrayed present day Hoyt Rawlins in season one of Walker. In his last appearance in season one, episode 13, the character was stabbed and died.

As of now, The CW has ordered a pilot for the prequel, but the series has not been officially picked up at this time.

Walker star Jared Padelecki will also be serving as an executive producer for the prequel.
