Jensen Ackles Reveals How 'The Winchesters' Came About During the Pandemic

Jensen Ackles is opening up about how and when The Winchesters idea came about!

The actor, who serves as executive producer and narrator of the new Supernatural prequel series, recently dished on how it all started.

Jensen notes that there have been attempts at expanding Supernatural before, and reveals that this one came up with his wife Danneel at the start of the pandemic.

“This was obviously something that has been long talked about, how to expand this world,” Jensen said last week, via Deadline. “There have been two attempts prior to this that unfortunately didn’t make the cut. But here we are, we are very excited. It really came about as Supernatural was wrapping up.”

“The pandemic hit, and my lovely wife and I were forced to sit together and figure out how to be creative in the confines in our house. This was one we talked about for quite a while and that’s when we threw it to the studio and network,” he continued. “They were quickly very interested. I was not ever ready to kind of put this to bed. I was ready to take a break, but not ready to put it to bed.”

If you recall, there was some drama around the announcement that they working on the prequel show back in June 2021.
