Mena Massoud Offers Not So Positive Update on 'Aladdin' Sequel

Mena Massoud recently shared an update on the Aladdin sequel and if it’s still happening.

It’s been nearly four years since the live action movie debuted in theaters and just over three years since it was revealed a sequel was in the works!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Mena was asked if the sequel was still happening, and he had a not so optimistic response.

Find out what he said…

While replying on Twitter, the actor said, “Very unlikely at this point.”

The month before that, writer and director of the first movie, Guy Ritchie, said it was kind of a “wait and see” situation if he would return.

“I’d very much like to. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed that experience. It was a great experience. That whole Disney thing, as you can imagine, is such a professional outfit. Just from that perspective, it was so much fun,” Guy told Collider. “I would very much like to, we’ll wait and see. We have been kicking some ideas around for some time now, but it’d be great to do, it would be great to go back there.”

The Aladdin sequel was not officially confirmed by Disney, however, reports suggested that John Gatins and Andrea Berloff were working on a script.

It was also reported that a spinoff centered on Billy Magnussen‘s character Prince Anders was being developed.

In case you missed it, Disney just announced another new live action movie that is in the works!
