Disney+ Cancels 'National Treasure: Edge of History' After 1 Season

Disney+ will sadly not be moving forward with a second season of National Treasure: Edge of History.

The streaming platform has opted to cancel the National Treasure spinoff, which starred the likes of Lisette Olivera and Catherine Zeta-Jones and premiered in late December.

The story centered on Lisette‘s character Jess Venezuela who embarks on an exciting and dangerous adventure to hunt down a treasure with ties to her family’s history. She gets help from her friends, who were played by Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues and Jake Austin Walker.

Catherine played the villainous Billie Pearce who threatened the team on their journey.

Variety confirmed the news of the cancellation but didn’t have any news regarding why Disney opted out of continuing the show. The series had a 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was met with mixed reviews from fans.

Despite that, National Treasure alum Justin Bartha made a cameo in the show, reprising his role as Nicolas Cage‘s best friend Riley Poole. He offered some thoughts about the possibility of releasing a third movie in the franchise.

Disney+ is gearing up to drop a new show in the coming weeks, and they just released an exciting trailer.
