Why Was Miley Cyrus Replaced in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3'?

If you forgot or didn’t know, Miley Cyrus had a cameo voice appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

The 30-year-old entertainer voiced the character Mainframe, in an uncredited post-credits scene in the second movie in the Marvel franchise.

However, in the recently released Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, while Mainframe returned, Miley did not.

On Twitter, director James Gunn did another short Q&A with fans, and seemingly revealed why Miley didn’t return for the threequel.

One person asked, “Was Miley Cyrus not able to reprise her role from Guardians 2? Was that the same character?”

James simply responded by saying, “Yes. Yes.”

In Guardians Vol 3, voice actress Tara Strong took over the voice role for the character. Tara is no stranger to voice MCU characters, as she also appeared in Loki season one as Miss Minutes.

She has also voiced characters in several other Marvel animated series and video games.
