New 'Gossip Girl' Post Has Fans Freaking Out - Find Out Why!

The Gossip Girl social media accounts were just updated on Tuesday afternoon (May 16)!

After both Twitter and Instagram uploaded new posts for the hit drama series, fans went into a frenzy as to what this could mean.

Neither account has been active since February, after the season two finale of the HBO Max revival came out.

However, there’s one huge reason why the new posts are causing fans to go wild.

“Welcome back, Upper East Siders. After a long time away, I see it didn’t take much time for you to dirty up the clean slates I gave you. #GossipGirl,” the social media posts read.

Along with the caption, the account shared a cast photo of the original Gossip Girl cast, which includes Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Taylor Momsen.

Many fans took to the comments, speculating what this could mean.

“Please tell me the OGs are coming back,” one commenter wrote.

Another said, “Remember when Josh [Safran] told that they wouldn’t be bring back the OG characters unless this was nevessary???!!! Could that mean that the original protagonists are available for a 3rd season of the revival with the most recent cast?! I’D LOVE TO SEE THAT 😍😍😍😍”

If you recall, the HBO Max revival did not star any of the original cast members, though several actors reprised their characters throughout the two seasons…

Writer Tyler McCall shared on Twitter not to get your hopes up, saying, “i don’t know what’s happening here either but I wouldn’t get my hopes up that this is anything particularly exciting !!”

Revival showrunner Joshua Safran replied, “I highly doubt there is!” Which notes that he has nothing to do with the latest posts. He also noted that the account “represents both the old and new GG. I imagine with HBOMax sunsetting and MAX taking its place in 1 week, it’s just a reminder that the OG GG is still on the platform?”
