Live Action 'Powerpuff Girls' Series Officially Over at The CW

We have a sad, but expected, update on the live action Powerpuff Girls series that was in the works at The CW.

It has been revealed that the project, which was undergoing a redo, has fully been scrapped at the network, according to TV Line.

A few other projects that were in development are also being scrapped by the network under it’s new ownership and management.

David Ramsey‘s Justice U series, a female-led Zorro, and a Jake Chang series, based on an Archie Comics character, are all no longer in development with The CW.

“We’ve already given those back to the studios,” Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment, told TVLine. “So they’re free to develop those and sell them anywhere.”

The last we knew of the Powerpuff series was that Chloe Bennet had exited the project in August 2021 due to scheduling conflicts.

After filming an original pilot for the series, The CW decided to scrap it and go back to the drawing board as they had hopes for the series, but that product wasn’t quite up to par.

Then CW president Mark Pedowitz said it was “just a miss.”

While all of these projects are dead at The CW, there is potential they could be shopped around elsewhere, though we won’t be getting our hopes up…
