“I’m devastated. And honestly.. I don’t even know what to say in this moment. My heart aches for your family. Thank you for treating me like a son. Thank you for sharing the screen and this art form we both cherish with me. Thank you for your mentorship and the conversations that aided me in the worst times of my life. You will forever be in my heart Kamar,” Cody wrote, alongside a behind-the-scenes photo. “Rest in peace coach. 🤍”

Kamar played Coach Mr Montes, nicknamed to distinguish from his wife, and was “a smart, confident, and unpredictable Coastal California football coach who develops a unique relationship with Asher (Christian) that ends up challenging both of them.”

He appeared on the CW series throughout seasons four and five, and we was set to return for season six.

All American showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll shared in a statement, via THR, that she and the show’s team “are absolutely devastated at the loss of Kamar.”

“He was such a beloved member of our All American family,” she added. “He brought so much love, light and joy to the set every day, even during his final days. We are so grateful for every moment he spent with us. Our hearts and sincere condolences are with Sherri, Caylen, Michael, John and the rest of Kamar’s family. Thank you for sharing him so generously with us and with the rest of the world. He truly was a gift. One we will cherish forever.”

Kamar leaves behind his wife, The Fosters star Sherri Saum, who he co-starred on the soap opera One Life to Live with, and his three children Caylen, Michael and John .

“Of The Kings @delosreyeskamar 11/8/67-12/24/23 👑,” Sherri captioned a black and white photo of her husband on Tuesday (December 26).

Our thoughts go out to Sherri and their family during this very difficult time.
