Bailee Madison Remembers Advice From Billy Crystal, Shares Twitter Exchange

Bailee Madison holds some advice close to her heart from Billy Crystal.

The 18-year-old actress recently opened up on The Trend with Rebecca Granet about a necklace she received from her co-star and the words of wisdom he told her.

“He sat me down at the end of filming Parental Guidance, and he handed me a locket with a key and my birth stone on it,” she said. “He said there are so many doors to unlock, you hold the key to many of those doors, but there’s so many more out there and I want you to not be afraid to try your key in some of those doors. And unlock those possibilities. I think when I was 12 I thought this [gift] was really cool, but now that I’m 18, I’m realizing that some doors aren’t meant to be locked and some doors really are. That advice is staying really true and it’s very poignant in my life right now.”

When asked if he knew how much it meant to her, she replied, “I hope so. I think about that often. I would love to be able to tell him that one day. Growing up is hard in this business, growing up in general is hard, and lots of doors just don’t open. You’re like “how come?” and you have to realize it’s just not your door.”
