Maxwell Whittington-Cooper, Madison Thompson & More Cast In 'Grease' Prequel Series

Casting for the upcoming Grease prequel series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies has just been announced!

The series was first heading to HBO Max with the title Rydell High, but moved to Paramount+ and received the new title.

Filming is getting underway now in Vancouver, with Maxwell Whittington-Cooper, Madison Thompson and Jackie Hoffman among those starring, according to THR.

Maxwell will portray Wally, Madison is Susan and Jackie will be Assistant Principal McGee.

Set four years before the original movie, the series will take place in 1954.

Here’s a synopsis: Before rock ā€˜nā€™ roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in school, four fed-up outcasts dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.

Also joining the cast are Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Marisa Davila as Jane, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Jason Schmidt as Buddy and newcomer Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies will have 10 episodes and see Descendants and RuPaul’s Drag Race choreographer Jamal Sims doing what he does best, with Justin Tranter overseeing the music.

Atypical‘s Annabel Oakes is the series creator, writer and showrunner. Alethea Jones will direct the pilot and two other episodes.
