Sad news for fans of the Freeform series Dead of Summer – the network has canceled the show and there will not be a second season.
The series followed a summer of terror at a summer camp for teens and was created by Once Upon a Time‘s co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.
The horror drama struggled to find an audience after receiving poor reviews.
Other new series that Freeform has canceled include Guilt and Recovery Road. The network is looking for a new hit as Pretty Little Liars is ending next year, though it still has Bella Thorne‘s Famous in Love to come.
In “She Talks to Angels,” what was supposed to be a fun summer that the Camp Stillwater counselors would never forget quickly turned into a horrible experience they will be lucky to survive.
As summer comes to a close, the centuries-old battle between good and evil at Lake Stillwater will be settled once and for all.
Dead of Summer airs TONIGHT, August 30 @ 9PM on Freeform.
The season finale of Freeform’s Dead of Summer is just around the corner and JJJ sat down with star Ronen Rubinstein and asked him some questions ahead of the big episode!
When asked about his favorite off-screen moment with the cast, Ronen replied, “Most fun off screen moment was being lucky enough to celebrate 4 of our cast members birthdays [Elizabeth Lail, Alberto Frezza, Mark Indelicato, and Zelda Williams]. They all agree it was their best birthdays so far.”
