We’re less than a week away from watching Jordan Fisher be his amazing self as Doody in Grease: Live.

Speaking with press, the 21-year-old actor and Barry Pearl, who played Doody in the 1978 film, chatted about the production and their friendship — one that happened before Jordan was cast.

“This is incredible for me because I watched this man a decade before I even made my first trip to Los Angeles,” Jordan shared. “Seeing him was one of my first musical experiences, so to be able to watch the film as a kid and be able to dream of doing something like that one day…”

Jordan and Buddy became friends after Barry filled in for a role during the Aladdin panto at the Pasadena Playhouse.

“I said then we needed to work together and two years after that I’m reprising a role he is so famous for,” he said.

Barry added, “That was the genesis of our friendship. We became fast friends and boom here we are together doing this amazing thing.”

He continued about the new, live version, “The torch has been passed and from what Didi [Conn] and I can see, because she’s a part of it as well, we couldn’t be more pleased with how its been passed. These kids are kicking in with a capital KICK.”

Grease: Live airs THIS Sunday, January 31st @ 7PM ET/PT on Fox.

Vanessa Hudgens and Carlos PenaVega hit the recording studio with their Grease: Live cast to record background vocals for “Grease Is The Word”.

The entire cast joined Jessie J in the studio for the song, which kicks off the musical.

“There’s no pressure like being the first one on stage,” Jessie shared. “I love that rush of the nerves that I’m going to get. I just feel really honored and really lucky that I’ve been asked to experience something like this.”

She added, “It’s a massive moment for me and I’m very lucky that I’m getting to share it with such amazing people.”

Grease: Live premieres Sunday, January 31st @ 8PM ET/PT on Fox.

Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough buddy up at AOL Build on Monday (January 18) in New York City.

The 27-year-old actresses were joined by their co-stars Carlos PenaVega and Aaron Tveit as they chatted about the January 31 production.

Vanessa told the audience that she was shocked when she found out she was being considered for the character Rizzo instead of Sandy.

“When I heard they were doing this, my manager called me and said, ‘Yeah, they’re doing Grease, and they’re interesting in you for Rizzo,’” Vanessa said. “I’m, like, ‘Are you sure? Not Sandy?’ I always saw myself as Sandy. I was always the good girl in my mind. Then I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, Rizzo is so amazing. This is gonna be so much fun.’”

The two actresses, plus their other Pink Ladies — Vanessa Hudgens, Kether Donohue and Julianne Hough — got to work for the live production which airs later this month on Fox.

“Look at tht! I feel pretty awesome because this one is always on ???? [cool] mode,” Keke wrote about Carly Rae on Instagram over the weekend. “She doesn’t agree with me, but she’s not an easy one to impress, buuut she thinks I’m funny!! At least in this photo hahahahaha ????????”

JJJ Fun Fact: Keke and Carly Rae both played Cinderella on Broadway before the show closed.

When they say Grease: Live, they really mean live!

Fox confirmed (via THR) that the upcoming production of the hit musical movie will have a live audience in Rydell High and other locations that will be featured.

Director Thomas Kail shared, “Very early on as I started imagining what this could be, talking to Marc Platt, our executive producer, and the folks at Paramount, one of the things we really were very focused on was trying to capture the spirit of both the original companies of Grease and that film that has left such an indelible impression on all of us. To try to honor that and pay homage to something that has moved us and we have such a great affection for, and then try to make our own version of it.”

Grease: Live, starring Vanessa Hudgens, Julianne Hough, and Jordan Fisher, will be a combined version of the original stage musical and movie. It will also include songs added for the movie – “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “You’re the One That I Want” and the title track.

The Pink Ladies are smashing all girl gang goals in this new pic from Instagram, thanks to Carly Rae Jepsen.

The 30-year-old singer/actress, who will play Frenchie in the upcoming television special, shared this new snap of her with Julianne Hough (Sandy), Vanessa Hudgens (Rizzo), Keke Palmer (Marty) and Kether Donohue (Jan).

The quintet, plus Aaron Tveit, Carlos PenaVega, Andrew Call, Jordan Fisher and David Del Rio, have been in rehearsals for days for the production, which will premiere on January 31st on Fox.
