Halle Bailey is opening up about her hair in the new live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid!
The 23-year-old star of course got to keep her locs for the role, and director Rob Marshall has even stated that he wanted her to keep them.
“It was super important for me to have my natural hair in this film. I was really grateful to [director] Rob Marshall, because he wanted to keep my locs. It’s always important to have somebody to cosign,” Halle previously told Ebony.
“I’ve had my locs since I was 5, so they’re a huge part of who I am,” she added. “We need to be able to see ourselves, we need to be able to see our hair on big screens like this, so that we know that it’s beautiful and more than acceptable.”
Now, she’s adding to that conversation, and how hair stylist Camille Friend transformed Halle‘s own hair to the more red color for Ariel.

Florence Pugh showed off quite the new look while attending the 2023 Met Gala held at Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening (May 1) in New York City.
The 27-year-old actress is no stranger to changing up her look and this time, she’s fully shaved her head!
Florence is wearing a Valentino look, and even hit the carpet with the brand’s creative director Pier Paolo Piccioli. She accessorized her outfit with Tiffany & Co earrings, rings and bracelets.
The week before, Florence wore a blonde bob for the reopening of the Tiffany & Co flagship store reopening.
Florence‘s shaved head is actually for her role in the upcoming movie We Live in Time, which she stars alongside Andrew Garfield.
While plot details are under wraps, it’s described as a “funny, deeply moving and immersive love story.”

Josh Richards displayed his bright pink new hair color at the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards held at Microsoft Theater on Saturday evening (March 4) in Downtown Los Angeles.
The 21-year-old TikTok star dyed his hair the night before and debuted it on TikTok of course.
“Pink,” he simply captioned a video on his second account, @neverlosejosh.
Other TikTok stars stepping out for the Kids’ Choice Awards were Shluv Family‘s Michael and Tiffany Le, Owen Holt and Markell Washington.
If you didn’t see, Michael and Markell were apart of the opening number during the ceremony, where they recreated some of the biggest dance trends of the past year, alongside hosts Charli D’Amelio and Nate Burleson.

Dixie D’Amelio has made another big change to her hair!
The 21-year-old singer and The D’Amelio Show star stepped out at the Saint Laurent Winter 2023 fashion show during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday (February 28), showing off a new color.
Dixie has now gone blonde as her hair continues to grow out.
“i am having more fun tbh… thank you @ysl ☆ stunning show tonight ☆,” she shared on Instagram, referencing the popular phrase, “Blondes have more fun.”
This is the second major change to her hair in the last six months, after shaving her head back in September 2022.
“I’ve wanted to do this since sixth grade,” she said of shaving her head. “And if someone doesn’t like it, then who cares. [It] grows back.”
In case you missed it, Rosé, Natalia Dyer, Wednesday‘s Georgie Farmer, Ellie Bamber and more were also in attendance at the Saint Laurent show.
A few days before, Dixie attended the GCDS Fall/Winter 2023-2024 fashion show at Milan Fashion Week in Italy.

Dove Cameron is putting her new red hair on full display while attending the Apple TV+ TCA Winter Press Tour held at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena on Wednesday (January 18) in Pasadena, Calif.
The 27-year-old entertainer joined her co-star Keegan-Michael Key and the show’s creator Cinco Paul at the panel event for season two of their show Schmigadoon!
