Joey King Opens Up About Shaving Her Head For Roles

Joey King is no stranger to shaving her head.

In fact, the 22-year-old actress has done three times, just for movie roles alone – The Dark Knight Rises, Wish I Was Here, and most recently for Hulu’s The Act.

During a recent interview, Joey opened up about what it’s like, and how she thinks every woman should do it at least once.

“And I would absolutely do it again. I think every woman should [shave their head] at least once in their life. I’ve never felt more free or more in tune with my beauty. I couldn’t hide behind my hair,” Joey shared with Allure magazine.

“A lot of people made fun of me when I had my head shaved. A lot of people said really mean things,” she continued. “But when I had short hair, I actually felt more confident; I felt very powerful. [Their words] slid off my back. People like to insert themselves in other people’s business when it doesn’t actually matter. Me having a shaved head for a project really upsets you that much? I’m doing fine.”

Also in that interview, the Bullet Train star dished on working with her fiancé Steven Piet, selecting a wide range of characters, and how she spends her time when she’s not working.

“It sounds like such a cheesy, typical thing to say, but even though life feels faster lately, more than ever I actually am taking more time to slow down and appreciate it,” Joey said. “I find a lot of peace in sunshine and being outside. I really love spending time with my foxhound, Jesse, and, obviously, my fiancé.”
