Niall Horan is all smiles after his performance on Sunrise in Sydney on Thursday (June 29) in Australia.
The “Slow Hands” singer performed his hit track before sitting down for an interview.
Later on, during another interview with The Project, Niall opened up about Katy Perry saying that he was always trying to flirt with her.
“Katy, please stop being mean to me! She is just finding any excuse to just patronize me and go around spreading rumors about me. I just want to be her friend,” Niall joked.
He added, “I mean, she is talking like she is about 55 years older than me. She is not that much older than me.”
“I wish everyone could be friends with Katy Perry, she’s hilarious.”
It’s no surprise: after all, they have known each other ever since Niall auditioned for The X Factor while Katy was a judge! In a new interview, Katy joked about Niall, saying that he loves to flirt with her.
“I see him around all the time – he’s always trying to like get my number, to maybe like flirt with me,” she laughed, “I’m like, ‘I can babysit you!’ I’m like your mum,” Australia’s The Daily Telegraph reports.
That said, she adores Niall and certainly isn’t trying to shade him in any way.
“He’s got lots of pull,” she said, “Don’t you worry about that! Niall is amazing, I love him.”
Katy Perry opened up about a lot of personal matters in her weekend-long Facebook livestream, from her conflict with Taylor Swift to her experience in therapy, and now she is addressing her mental health again in a new interview.
“I’ve been going to therapy for about five years,” the 32-year-old “Bon Appetit” singer told Kiis106.5, “and I think it has really helped my mental health incredibly. And it’s a really wonderful thing to be able to talk to someone who doesn’t judge you, because I don’t think a lot of people have that. I encourage it. People think it’s weird or they think yoga is weird. No, there is nothing weird about taking care of your physical and mental health. That’s awesome.”
We totally agree. Katy went on to express what she hopes to accomplish by being honest about her struggles.
“I have nothing to hide and I think that in a way, if I let down my guard and lift the veil on what people think that people in my position are or look like, maybe they can see that we are all just the same. We are like anyone else.”
Selena Gomez is also a big advocate for therapy, as she explained last month. We love it when stars talk about mental health struggles and therapy, because they are both so much more common than we are trained to believe — and they are also totally normal.
In a new video released from the event, we can see Katy Perry‘s experience backstage, including her interactions with fellow performers Justin Bieber, Niall Horan, Miley Cyrus, and, most notably, Ariana.
Katy rehearses her acoustic rendition of “Part of Me,” in the video. She also jokes around with Miley, gives Justin a warm hug, and takes a selfie with Niall, as one does.
“It’s awesome that you’re here,” Justin tells her, smiling big.
The best part of the video, though, is the end. After Katy‘s set, Ariana gives her a long, heartfelt hug that seems to last forever, and that alone is reason enough to watch.
Katy Perry has been breaking records left and right lately! The 32-year-old singer recently became the first person to reach 100 million followers on Twitter, and now she is the first — ever — to have three songs reach diamond status.
You can probably guess which three songs achieved diamond! “Firework,” “Roar,” and “Dark Horse,” smashed records, selling 10,000,000 units each. Casual.
The Recording Industry Association of America broke the news to her, and Katy reacted with her usual chill demeanor.
That is to say, like any normal person, of course she freaked out.

But, as Ed said at the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame, they don’t always need to defend one another.
“I don’t think she needs [to be defended] at all,” the 26-year-old “Shape of You” singer told People. (Since Katy Perry has apologized to T-Swift and dropped the matter, we’re thinking he’s absolutely right!)
He also revealed that he himself has written feud songs before, but that: “no one cares about them!”
Feud songs can be powerful; expressing one’s anger through music can lead to some magical things. That said, when celebrities themselves have dropped their “feud” (as Katy has finally done) it is definitely time for us to follow suit!

Twitter announced today (June 16) that Katy is officially the first person to reach 100 million followers on the platform — ever!
She has been on Twitter for eight years now, with over 8,500 tweets. Her most-tweeted about day was on the 2015 Superbowl (LEFT SHARK), and five of her six most retweeted tweets are about other musicians, Twitter reports.
