Studies have proven time and time again that social media is harmful for teens’ mental health — but what they don’t show is that social media can also facilitate a positive, supportive, amazing community.

Instagram is working to draw attention to those positive aspects by having its popular influencers – from Ariel Martin (Baby Ariel) to Girl Meets World‘s Corey Fogelmanis – read kind comments left by their followers in an uplifting new video.

“You’re caring, helpful, humble, and you still have that fire in you,” Ariel reads one comment addressed to her aloud, “And it’s not a forest fire, either. It’s just a bonfire that gives you beautiful attitude.”

Ariel smiles in response. “I think that was one of the best things I’ve read ever, I love that.”

“That means everything,” Corey says, clutching his heart, when he reads his positive comment.

Kristen Hancher & Raegan Beast Star in Powerful Video for International Transgender Day of Visibility

Musical.ly star Kristen Hancher and transgender content creator Raegan Beast almost brought us to tears with this emotional video made to celebrate transgender people and to help raise awareness about the discrimination they face.

The video also stars 9-year-old musical.ly star Piper Rockelle, and other top musers including Hali’a Beamer and The Caleon Twins.

Kristin tells JustJaredJr. why this project is so important to her:

“It is a cause that spoke to me and was near and dear to my heart as some of my friends close to me are transgender so I wanted to speak up about it and raise awareness,” she says.

She continues, “I think everyone deserves to be treated equally and not put into situations where they feel uncomfortable.”
