Shailene Woodley knows about the power of dance!
The 27-year-old actress stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote season 2 of her HBO hit, Big Little Lies, in an episode airing Thursday (May 30).
Shailene and Ellen bonded over their shared love of dance, which Shailene calls “medicine.”
“I dance a lot in real life and then sometime I decide to post them [on social media],” Shailene explained as clips of her dance-capades played on a screen in the background. “There’s so much in the world that can get you down and there’s a lot of fear and dancing is just medicine.”
The Divergent actress also opened up about living in France – which is exactly what she’s been doing for the last two years.
“I was living in France for the last two years, which was really fun,” Shailene shared. “It is very different than America and culturally it was a bit of a shock living there at first. Everything is kind of a lot slower. People don’t take your food away before you’re finished eating it which was a welcome surprise because here I feel like you’re still chewing and waiters just take your food away.”

The 27-year-old actress opened up about the upcoming season of her HBO series, Big Little Lies, as well as opening up about celebrities voicing their opinions on politics.
“There’s no difference between being on a movie set creatively expressing [myself] and having a peaceful conversation or a heated political debate with someone else,” she says about those who are critical of her and other actors for speaking out on issues.
Shailene added, “Speaking about things that I’m passionate about is like breathing in air, the same as going to auditions or wanting to participate in certain films. [They’re] all a part of my world.”

Speaking to WWD, Shailene admitted that she actually likes playing a mom on the small screen.
“It’s great, but I want little babies so bad now,” Shailene shared.
However, there is a silver lining for her: “Although the best thing about playing a mom on TV is you get to send them home at the end of the day with their real parents.”
