Ashleigh Murray is speaking out about Luke Perry‘s upcoming tribute on Riverdale.

The Riverdale and Katy Keene actress, who plays Josie McCoy on both series, spoke to Access about the season four premiere.

“It’s very touching,” she shared. “It is going to be emotional for a lot of viewers … especially anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Luke, even if it was just for a moment.”

“I feel like it does him justice, and I hope it also does his family justice too,” she told the outlet, adding that the cast and crew are “happy with what the writers came up with. It’s going to be very special.”

“It was not easy at all,” she continued. “It’s still difficult. It was tough. I was very, very emotional throughout it. We all had our moments. … I felt safe enough to cry, or laugh, or have any of the emotions that come up.”

“This was this final step for us,” Ashleigh Murray said. “I know, like we all know, Luke would want us to keep going. He wouldn’t want us to cry too long over him. It changed us, but we are able to keep moving.”

Luke sadly passed away at age 52 after suffering a massive stroke in March.

Luke Perry‘s last appearance on Riverdale aired in April, but his character, Fred Andrews’s, absence has not been addressed on the show yet.

Season four of Riverdale premieres on October 9 on The CW.

The 28-year-old Riverdale actor shared a silly photo of girlfriend Camila Mendes and wrote out a sweet birthday message.

“you are the most beautiful human being i know. happy birthday baby,” he simply wrote.

Camila‘s co-stars and pals Madelaine Petsch and Ashleigh Murray also shared birthday wishes to her.

“happy birthday to my fave lil lizard 🦎 @camimendes. I’m so happy I’m on this earth at the same time as you. Thank you for being such a phenomenal friend, sister, and overall human ❤️ Love you love you,” Madelaine wrote.

“Hbd to my favorite nugget, my cherub, my camimi,” Ashleigh captioned her post.

Lucy Hale shows off a smirk while on the phone on Monday (June 24) in Studio City, Calif.

The 30-year-old actress picked up an iced coffee from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Earlier in the day, Lucy wore her workout clothes as she stopped by Alfred Coffee to pick up a couple of drinks.

Lucy recently opened up about her excitement to work with Ashleigh Murray on their Riverdale spin-off show Katy Keene, and for her to be able to show off her talents.

“She’s so sweet and is so excited that her talents are going to be really utilized in the show because I didn’t really realize all that was happening on Riverdale,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s crazy like PLL was! Like, there’s crazy s–t happening! So it’s like, ‘How did they find room for you to sing on there?’ She was like, ‘Well, that’ll work better on Katy Keene.’ So I’m excited for it. She’s a doll!”

Ashleigh Murray joins her new co-stars, Lucy Hale, Julia Chan and Jonny Beauchamp, at the 2019 CW Network Upfront on Thursday morning (May 16) in New York City.

The four actors all star in the network’s new series, Katy Keene, which will be premiering mid-season in 2020.

Here’s the official summary for the show: Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Hale), singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Murray), performer Jorge Lopez/Ginger (Beauchamp), and “It Girl” Pepper Smith (Chan) — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City…together.

Katy designs clothes for anyone she can, including her friend and roommate Josie, whose singing talent catches the attention of Alexander Cabot (Lucien Laviscount), a CEO who hopes to reboot the record label division of his father’s corporate empire. But Alexander’s dream of signing Josie to a recording contract meets resistance from Cabot Media’s powerful senior vice president Alexandra (Camille Hyde), who also happens to be his twin sister.

Josie and Katy’s roommate Jorge works at his family’s bodega and has his eye on Broadway, but after a series of rejections, he hopes to take his drag performance career as Ginger to the next level. The mysterious Pepper Smith plans to open her own version of Andy Warhol’s Factory. She has the connections, but no one seems to know where she got her money — or if she really has any at all.

Katy struggles to manage the pressures of her day job at Lacy’s Department Store and her very demanding boss, Gloria (Katherine LaNasa), who is a legendary personal shopper. But Katy has the support of her longtime boyfriend, KO Kelly (Zane Holtz), who has his own dream of becoming a professional boxer. As these aspiring artists take on the runway, the recording studio, Broadway, and the NYC social scene, they will find more than just a career in the big city — they’ll find long-lasting friendship.

Joined by Hayley Law, the two Riverdale stars stepped out for the premiere to support their co-star, Charles Melton, who plays Daniel Bae in the flick.

The big announcement came this week, with stars Lucy Hale, and Ashleigh Murray, and creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa sharing the happy news on social media.

“One door closes, another opens! So thrilled that Katy Keene is coming to the @TheCW with this beautiful cast! So grateful to @thatthingofwhen and Maggie Kiley for all the love they poured into this show! NYC, here we come!!!” Roberto tweeted.

Ashleigh added on her Instagram, “to all the dreams I loved before and can finally post about…✍️ #KatyKeene is going to series. Breathless and thankful ❤️❤️.”
