Ed Sheeran poses backstage with a Lego man before his private concert at Legoland California in Carlsbad on Saturday afternoon (February 16).
The 22-year-old musician is a huge LEGO® fan himself and performed his hit songs including “LEGO House” and “The A Team” for a crowd of fans selected by San Diego radio station KPRI. Ed also took some questions from the audience and even gave out a couple of hugs to some fans.
“Playing a gig at Lego land today. Combining both my hobbies in one activity. Boss,” Ed tweeted.
LEGOLAND also surprised Ed with a birthday cake as fans sang “Happy Birthday”. Ed was also able to visit the new LEGOLAND Hotel and made a quick stop for some last minute shopping.

Ed Sheeran stops for a few fans outside of Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Wednesday evening (January 30).
The 21-year-old musician played to a sold-out crowd at the legendary venue.
“I wrote it about a girl called Angel. I met her in a homeless shelter in East London (where, at age 18, he was a volunteer),” Ed shared in a recent interview about his Grammy nominated song, “The A Team.”
He added about its success, “When I wrote that song, it was because I needed to. In my head, I wasn’t thinking, ‘Oh, this will work in America.’ Even when it was a hit in England, I didn’t think it would work in America. It’s been very surprising how that song has been received and how far it’s taken me.”
On Thursday (January 31), Ed stopped by The Today Show where he performed “Lego House.” Watch it below!
