Olesya Rulin hits the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Family Weekend held at the Chelsea Clearview Cinemas on Thursday (March 21) in New York City.

The 27-year-old actress was joined by her good friend and High School Musical co-star Monique Coleman, and her co-star for this film, Kristin Chenoweth.

Olesya Rulin is none to happy with Kristin Chenoweth in this new still from Family Weekend.

In the upcoming movie, 16-year-old Emily Smith-Dungy (Rulin) an incredibly motivated overachiever who has grown increasingly frustrated with her parents’ lack of support and guidance. Her mom, Samantha (Chenoweth), is a career-focused, no-nonsense high-powered business executive. Her dad, Duncan (Matthew Modine), is a happy go-lucky artist who can’t be bothered to earn a paycheck.

When they missed their daughter’s big jump-roping competition, Emily hits her breaking point and takes it upon herself to restore order in the home. With the help of her siblings, they unite and take their parents hostage in hopes of becoming a “family” again.

Family Weekend, also starring Joey King and Chloe Bridges, is hitting select theaters on March 29th!

Olesya‘s flick, Family Weekend, was recently acquired by ARC Entertainment.

There’s no set release date yet, but the film follows Emily (Rulin), a 16-year-old who holds her unsupportive, workaholic parents hostage for a weekend in an attempt to gain their attention and bring the family closer together.

Olesya Rulin cheers on her football team in this still from her new movie, Apart.

Apart follows a man (Josh Danziger) wakes up from a two year coma. As he slowly begins to recover memories, he is forced to come to terms with the underlying suspicions that come with these harrowing events of his life. The flick focuses on a rare psychological disorder classified as ICD-10 F24, madness of two.

“The week I got the script, I had just finished High School Musical 3. I needed to do an indie film!” Olesya shared in a statement.

She added, “I’m really proud of this. I’m so excited for people to see it. I wouldn’t have done a project like this if I didn’t feel completely compelled to tell the story. I pushed myself to open every possible window into my soul, to give it everything I could, because I just had to do the story and the character justice.”
