Once Upon a Time‘s midseason finale was packed full of information that we don’t even know where to start for a recap!

We do know our readers love Drizella (Adelaide Kane) though, so let’s just start and end with her, because she’s the best to watch.

In the hour-long episode, it was revealed that Drizella actually forced Regina to help her cast the curse, by poisoning Henry’s heart — but in Once fashion, it looks like it wasn’t just Drizella who wanted the curse casted.

The curse was actually cast by a Coven of eight, a group of mysterious origin whom Mother Gothel (Emma Booth) is trying to reunite in Hyperion Heights.

BUT, Drizella isn’t part of the Coven at all!

“Drizella was warned not to let Gothel out, and she did and now she finds herself in a pit with her mother, who she hates, so their family has only grown more dysfunctional,” showrunner Eddy Kitsis shared with EW. “Drizella’s desire for revenge only grows stronger.”

So, can we start to trust her? No. Always no.

“We’ve seen moments of kindness from Drizella,” he adds. “So we’ll have to see whether or not she is fully an Evil Stepsister, or if she can be redeemed, but right now, she’s out for revenge.”

Once Upon a Time will return in March 2018 (so, BRB, going to re-watch the first half of the season again).

Anastasia is making her debut on Once Upon a Time tonight!

Cinderella’s other step-sister will be played by Yael Yurman in the show and is even more excited than anyone.

“Ahhhh! I can’t wait to share more details, but I was cast for something #big !!!” Yael wrote back in October about her new role as Drizella’s sister.

She added later on, boasting about the costumes she’ll get to wear: “Shout out to the amazing @OnceABC costume department. The handmade and super detailed clothes are beautiful!”

In tonight’s episode, “The Eighth Witch”, Gothel tries to earns the trust of Anastasia and the consequences of their budding relationship could prove to be fatal.

There’s a brand new Once Upon a Time on tonight and JJJ is so excited!

Excited because, hopefully, we’ll get some answers to Drizella’s (Adelaide Kane) deal with The Witch aka Mother Gothel (Emma Booth).

“I think that the witch is a very volatile entity,” Adelaide told EW recently about their team up. “I think it remains to be seen as to who’s using who in this scenario, like whether Drizella/Ivy is just sort of misguided and desperate and looking for a mother figure, whatever her plots are, wherever she can find it, or whether she truly is a mastermind type character, or whether she’s just a pawn in somebody else’s game.”

Adelaide also previews that beyond tonight’s episode, that “there’s going to be all this good stuff coming up. It’s exciting. Some really, really juicy bits that I can’t tell you about because I’ll get in trouble.”

If you’ve been paying attention to Once Upon a Time like we have (we just can’t help it), you know that Drizella has some sort of deal with The Witch who’s locked up on the top level of Belfrey Tower — and their relationship is just weird.

You never know who’s playing who — which is exactly Adelaide Kane‘s point, which she shared with EW about the duo’s deal.

“I think that the witch is a very volatile entity,” Adelaide shared. “I think it remains to be seen as to who’s using who in this scenario, like whether Drizella/Ivy is just sort of misguided and desperate and looking for a mother figure, whatever her plots are, wherever she can find it, or whether she truly is a mastermind type character, or whether she’s just a pawn in somebody else’s game.”

She continues, “We’ll continue to develop that story line and see where that’s going and what kind of part she has to play in this whole curse.”

Adelaide says that beyond Drizella and The Witch, “we get to explore more characters and their backstory, and get to see how far they’ve come, and what’s been going on for them between the time jump from the end of season 6 and now, the beginning of this whole new story and this whole new curse.”

“Naturally things will get far more complicated as we continue on. There’s going to be all this good stuff coming up. It’s exciting. Some really, really juicy bits that I can’t tell you about because I’ll get in trouble.”

Once Upon a Time will air two episodes TONIGHT @ 8PM – 10PM ET/PT on ABC.

For weeks, we’ve had a chance to see Adelaide Kane shine as Drizella on Once Upon A Time — we love everything about her not-so-good and manipulative evil character.

However, do we trust her on the ABC series? No. Absolutely not, and Adelaide doesn’t think you should either.

“I probably wouldn’t [trust anything she says], but then I wouldn’t have trusted her before I knew she was awake,” she shared with EW recently. “But I do think that she’s not one-dimensional.”

Adelaide adds that all of Drizella’s pain does come from somewhere and we have a feeling it’s directly from her mom not giving a care in the world about her.

“This motivation isn’t just coming out of thin air, nobody’s evil for the sake of being evil,” she says.

Adelaide does think she knows what Drizella’s goal is though — to get “vengeance against her mother for not loving her.”

Sounds about right, to be honest.

“I think that’s ultimately what she thinks she wants,” she adds. “Then I think what she really wants is to be loved and to be happy and she’s going about it the wrong way. That’s the example she’s grown up with. That’s all she knows.”

If you’re just catching up, there was a major twist on Once Upon a Time last week — Drizella is AWAKE!

Adelaide Kane spoke to EW ahead of tonight’s episode and opened up about how much she knows about the curse and if Drizella was really the one behind casting it.

First things first, Adelaide didn’t know Drizella was awake at all!

“I probably would’ve approached the previous episodes a little differently [if I had known], but I’m kind of glad I didn’t because it gives me a really wide range of what’s she putting on and what isn’t she putting on, like what from the last four episodes was actually genuine and then what was just an act?” Adelaide shares.

“Was it all an act? Were there moments of real genuine emotion and feeling and backstory there or has she just been full of sh� this entire time?”

But did Drizella actually cast the curse? Adelaide isn’t fully confident in that theory and is putting her money on someone else.

“I think it would be really satisfying if Ivy were the one who cast the curse just because she is so downtrodden and angry and unhappy,” she says. “But you know who really has a lot of power in either world? It’s her mother.”

“Her mother has all the power and all the control and keeps her on a really tight leash, so she’d have to be a lot smarter than anybody gives her credit for to be able to pull that off underneath everybody’s nose.”

If you missed last week’s Once Upon a Time, you might want to head to another story because we’re about to reveal some troubling news about Henry and Cinderella’s meant-to-be fate.

Ivy (Adelaide Kane) might be getting in the way.

Showrunner Eddy Kitsis teased that fans should be worried about Ivy getting close to Henry (Andrew J. West).

“Henry is a really great guy and Ivy clearly spoke to him,” he says. “The Henry we’ve met believes he’s lost his family, things are weird with Jacinda, and I think that Ivy said she has less baggage.”

He adds, “We’re just going to have to see what happens moving forward. Henry very much right now has a crush on Jacinda, but he’s not quite sure what that means and is dealing with these cursed memories. Ivy is there to try and exploit that.”

So, is Ivy really looking for a relationship, or is she just there to distract Henry from Jacinda/Cinderella like her mom would want?
