Adelaide Kane Reveals The One Thing She Still Wears From 'Reign'

Can you believe it’s been almost five months since the end of Reign? No? Us either.

To be honest, we’re still watching the series over and over again because we can’t let it go, and lately we’ve been obsessing over the jewelry that star Adelaide Kane wears.

In a new interview, she revealed that she actually got to keep some of the jewelry she wore as Mary, Queen of Scots — a pair of black and white moon and sun earrings, made by Percossi Papi.

“I wear them every now and again. They’re so big and heavy I have to pick my battles with them,” Adelaide says. “After 4 or 5 hours my earlobes will fall off.”

However the one item she really did want was the one she didn’t get — an Alexander McQueen black sheath dress with a keyhole and gold collar, which she wore in season two.

“I wanted that dress with all my heart,” Adelaide confesses.

TELL JJJ: Do you miss Reign as much as we do?

Reign's Adelaide Kane Reveals How Important Mary's Ladies In Waiting Actually Were

JJJ‘s getting real here – we are seriously missing Reign. Like, what do we do with our Fridays?!

One thing that we miss the most (since season one, actually) is Mary’s bond with her ladies in waiting — Kenna, Lola, Aylee, and Greer.

They had such a unique and strong bond, that Aylee’s sudden death in season one still sticks with us.

“All the girls who played them, from Jenessa [Grant] in season one, Caitlin [Stasey] in season two, Anna [Popplewell] in season the, and Celina [Sinden], they are all very wonderful women and a joy to work with and exceptionally talented,” Adelaide Kane, who played Mary told JJJ exclusively.

She adds, “They’ve all gone on to do some really cool things. Those ladies were Mary’s support network and I think it was cool and interesting how they were actually picked off one by one and left her.”

Until there was only one left – Greer.

“Her last lady and source of strength,” Adelaide says. “When she was in Scotland, she was very weak and at her most vulnerable and having them is a very physical symbol of protection being taken away one by one, as she enters a more dangerous and more uncertain time in her life.”

Adelaide Kane Reveals Her Absolute Favorite Costumes on 'Reign' (Exclusive)

Adelaide Kane Reveals Her Absolute Favorite Costumes on 'Reign' (Exclusive)

It’s been a full week since the series finale of Reign aired and JJJ still isn’t over that — we’re still crying about it!

However, we do have all four seasons on Netflix now, which makes us feel just a little better — and so does star Adelaide Kane talking about all of Mary’s costumes she wore over the series.

“Her coronation dress was fantastic — the red and gold with the massive train,” Adelaide told us in our recent interview with her. “All of her wedding dresses and the jewelry.”

One of the major costumes that really stood out to her was everything about her wedding look to Darnley, even down to the shoes.

“The veil for that was so incredibly heavy,” Adelaide revealed. “I had to drape it over my arm and carry it around in between shots because there was so much strain on my neck from it.”

“The shoes for that were so beautiful. They were stunning, from this Italian designer who I can’t remember. But they were slingback kitten heels and there were crowns on the front of the shoes that were stitched in, with crystals and pearls.”

You might’ve noticed a shift in the costumes too, which worked perfectly with the show.

“After we moved away from the vintage and couture dresses, and started to do custom builds, there was a more cohesive thread, fashion wise throughout the show. All of her stuff was so stunning that I can’t think of any I didn’t like.”

There are some that Adelaide did like more than others though — “Anything with her leather leggings, when she was riding around I really loved. It was just a little bit more comfortable (laughs).”

Reign's Adelaide Kane Reveals What Could've Happened in Season 5, If There Was One

Reign's Adelaide Kane Reveals What Could've Happened in Season 5, If There Was One

We still haven’t come to terms with the fact that Reign is officially over.

We know we’ll still have our box sets and Netflix, but we really want a season five.

When JJJ spoke to Adelaide Kane, she echoed our wishes, dreaming up what could of been.

“I would’ve loved to seen Queen Elizabeth I ushering in the golden age,” Adelaide shared with us. “And the age of exploration with her, and maybe see how Henry and Charles situation played out. Catherine de Medici and more of her scheming.”

And what about Mary? There was a huge time jump, another marriage, and more.

“For Mary, raising her child and dodging all that political climate that she was in” she adds. “She was driven out of Scotland when her child was two years old. She abdicated and then fled to England, so we had two good years of Mary being a mother, but also her fighting the Scottish government and Protestantism, as she was a catholic in Scotland.”

Adelaide added even more storylines that could’ve possibly went into a season six, seven and eight.

“After she fled, she was captured and then incarcerated for the next 20 years of her life. There was so much more to explore with her.”

“Also, I’d get to be with a baby for more than two episodes. I love babies,” Adelaide gushed. “Every time any baby was on set, I asked them to let me know on a different unit so I could go and play and see them.”

The Final Frary Scene in 'Reign's Series Finale Was Shot Before Toby Regbo Left The Show

The Final Frary Scene in 'Reign's Series Finale Was Shot Before Toby Regbo Left The Show

Reign said goodbye last night with a beautiful Francis and Mary montage that made us melt into a puddle of goo.

The scene happens just after Mary is beheaded and she wakes up, lying next to Francis in her afterlife.

“When one looks back on Mary’s life it seemed so tragic, but there was so much joy in it,” showrunner Laurie McCarthy shared with TVGuide. “Historically she was said to find happiness and friendship even in her years of captivity. I wanted to celebrate where the show began, which is with a love story.”

She adds about including this moment in the final episode, “I felt that in her darkest moment that was a place her mind might go.”

“The scene was filmed before Toby Regbo left the series – we shot it and just held it not knowing when the end would come but knowing what it would be,” Laurie says.

Reign's Rachel Skarsten Pens Beautiful Goodbye To Queen Elizabeth I

Reign's Rachel Skarsten Pens Beautiful Goodbye To Queen Elizabeth I

Rachel Skarsten took her final bow as Queen Elizabeth I on tonight’s series finale of Reign.

Like us all, she’s going to miss portraying Elizabeth The Great on the small screen.

In a short and sweet letter, Rachel says goodbye to Elizabeth, and the amazing Reign fans.

Read her letter below, only on JJJ:

“It has been my great pleasure and genuine honor to be a part of Reign these past seasons and to play such an iconic, powerful, complex and brilliant woman. May we continue to have shows that showcase women such as these.

To be embraced by the cast as one of their own, brought in to the CW family and most beautifully by you, the fans is of significance to me that is difficult to articulate. There really are no words sometimes for experiences as beautiful as this. Just gratitude. Thanks for loving Reign as much as I do.

Rach”
