Hope has a talk with mom Hayley in this new still from the season five premiere of The Originals, premiering tonight.
In the upcoming season, we’ll see how Hope deals with not just her powers, but being part of a powerful, magical family as well.
Julie Plec shared with Variety that her entire journey “is centered around the question of what kind of burden is it to place on an unborn child that she is this family’s only hope?”
“…What does that do to your psyche, what does that do to your sense of self?” she questions. “Here’s this girl with all of this kind of magic broiling around inside of her, and how is that going to manifest if she takes after her daddy and his temper problems? I think that it’s all part of growing up.”
Julie adds, “When you’re born into a complicated family and you’re trying hard to find your true self but you’ve inherited whatever disease that gets passed down through the DNA of that family — you’re just trying to be your best self.
“She’s constantly struggling to be that foundation that her family needs, which is not always easy.”

The Originals is back tonight and filled with a lot of new faces!
Before we jump into the premiere ep, which takes place seven years after the fourth season finale, we need to meet all of the new characters coming into our lives.
In the premiere ep, Hope is so desperate to see her father Klaus that she resorts to drastic measures to bring her father back to New Orleans. Hayley attempts to minimize the fallout from Hope’s actions, but not before news of what she’s done ripples through the city.
Meanwhile, Freya’s guilt over not being able to reunite her family gets in the way of her happiness with Keelin, while Rebekah struggles with her inability to fully commit to Marcel.

Let’s be real here – it’s been a very, very long while since Caroline Forbes and Klaus Mikaelson have seen each other, and it will definitely show when The Originals returns for its’ final season premiere tonight.
Speaking with EW, showrunner Julie Plec opened up about how the could-be couple’s relationship has changed from instant fireworks to an mature one.
“It’s a shift from the instant fireworks of that kind of ‘young damsel in distress/bad boy with a buried heart’ dynamic that’s is so potent when you’re young,” she shared.
“As you get older, experience tells you that that kind of stuff can be just as dangerous as any monster, and so with age and wisdom comes a settled feeling of peace and maturity.”
Julie adds, “Where we’re finding Caroline, she’s there, and Klaus is constantly searching for that, so it’s a whole new dynamic for them because she can be a peer to him, she can be a support system to him and have an adult friendship and relationship with him in a way that she never could back when they were canoodling in series past.”

Klaus just doesn’t care about that rule to keep away from family in the final season of The Originals.
If you remember, at the end of the fourth season, each of the Mikaelson family have a piece of The Hollow inside them, and they must keep away from each other in order for it not to escape.
The two brothers have a piano-side conversation about family, but it doesn’t seem to dawn on Elijah that there’s more to the story between them…at least not yet.

We have only a few more days until the premiere of The Originals – and Joseph Morgan is preparing us for the Klaroline reunion that we’ve all been waiting for.
“It’s not romantic, per se, but we definitely acknowledge the history that they have, and there is an attraction there; a chemistry and understanding between them,” the actor told TVLine in a new video interview about the former couple’s reunion.
Joseph adds, “Candice [King] has done a bunch of episodes and most of them are with me,” he says. “I don’t think she’s filming with anyone else (laughs).”
He also previews that the endgame might not be something all of us love.
“I feel very happy with how it all ends…I’m comfortable with where it ends,” Joseph says. “I don’t think there’s any way that could be satisfactory to everyone…some of you won’t be happy, but some of you will.”
The Originals premieres on Wednesday, April 18th on The CW.
Thankfully, she’s going to have Aunt Freya (Riley Voelkel) there to help her out with those a bit.
“Freya’s going to have a really important role with Hope early in the season as Freya becomes concerned,” showrunner Julie Plec shared with EW. “When Freya was a teenager, she didn’t have control over her own power and really bad things would happen when she got worked up.”
Julie adds, “She recognizes that same jeopardy in Hope’s emotional state. Hope feels out of control, so she’s trying to help her learn how to control that.”

Featuring brothers Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies), the tagline reads “Family. Always and Forever.”
Speaking with TVLine earlier this year, Daniel teased about what’s ahead for Elijah in the coming season, even though he had his memories wiped from him at the end of season four.
Elijah doesn’t take long “figure out he’s not a regular person.”
One of the upcoming episodes also centers just on Elijah and his new life.
“I think it’s one of the best episodes we’ve ever done,” Daniel adds. “I’m actually amazed that it made it through — it was such a change of pace from what we normally do.”
