'The Vampire Diaries' 100th Episode Recap - Who Died? Who Hooked Up?

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!!

Tonight’s 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries was nothing short of EPIC.

We witnessed everything from hot hookups to major surprise returns from past characters. We were freaking out the whole time!

Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) impending death brought about a lot of great flashbacks and memories. It was the perfect celebration of one of our favorite shows!

Katherine is dying from old age and there’s nothing anyone can do about it, so Damon (Ian Somerhalder) throws a party in celebration, and everyone drinks to all the horrible decisions she made. The little get-together brings about some old faces, including Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and Alaric (Matt Davis). Elena also finds out about that whole Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Katherine hookup.

Speaking of Stelena, Stefan and Elena are tricked into a bad situation by Nadia (Olga Fonda), who is determined to keep her mother alive, even if that means giving her body over. Only problem is, Stefan and Elena must be sacrificed for the ritual. You know, the doppelganger blood and all. But then it turns out, all they needed was a bucket of blood. And instead of taking over her body, Katherine says goodbye to her daughter and confesses her regrets. She also gets a visit from Elijah (Daniel Gillies), John (David Anders), and Jenna (Sara Canning). Amazing!

In our favorite moment of the episode – wait for it – Caroline (Candice Accola) finally gives in to her feelings for Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and they hook up in the forest for the very first time! It’s two years in the making and we love it! Then of course, Tyler (Michael Trevino) shows up in the end after returning from New Orleans.

Rebekah (Claire Holt) makes a timely appearance to help save Matt (Zach Roerig) after Nadia buries him alive to get Stefan and Elena to go with her.

And finally, Elena tells Katherine that she forgives her for everything, and in true Katherine Pierce style, she doesn’t die, but takes over Elena’s body! Dun dun dun!
