'Legacies' Cast Talks What's Coming in Season Two of the Show at Comic-Con 2019

The ladies of Legacies look so fierce in this pic from their signing event during 2019 Comic-Con over the weekend in San Diego, Calif.

Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, and Kaylee Bryant joined co-stars Matt Davis, Aria Shahghasemi, Quincy Fouse and Peyton Alex Smith for the meet and greet with their fans after a panel moderated by Candice King.

In an interview with TVLine, Jenny, Danielle and Kaylee all opened up about what’s ahead for their characters in season two.

For Lizzie and Josie, Kaylee and Jenny opened up about the merge.

“I really don’t think Josie’s in a place where she would fight back,” Kaylee says. “She’d let her win.” Jenny, though, is convinced that it would be a close battle.

Danielle also chatted about a world without Hope: “It’s definitely a change of pace…it gives these guys a little bit of freedom to explore different situations and dynamics now, because it’s justified. Last year, certain things wouldn’t have been justified, but now we get to experiment a little bit — until Hope is remembered and all hell breaks loose.”

Matt Davis Says Alaric Saltzman Is Similar to Dumbledore on 'Legacies'

Matt Davis is dishing on Alaric’s role as headmaster in Legacies.

While attending New York Comic-Con last weekend, the 40-year-old actor opened up a little more about what to expect his for his character’s new role.

“He’s taking on a new set of responsibilities. He genuinely is coming from a place of love,” he said, via TV Guide. “He’s somewhere between Professor X and Dumbledore.”

EP Julie Plec also dished that even though Sheriff Donovan and Alaric work together, Donovan isn’t afraid to put his foot down. “It puts him and Alaric in a good place for some tension,” she said.

'Legacies' Showrunner Reveals The Format Will Be Different From 'Originals' & 'Vampire Diaries'

Danielle Rose Russell looks like she’s pondering life in this brand new still from her new series, Legacies.

During the Summer TCA Press Tour, the 18-year-old actress joined co-star Matt Davis and showrunner Julie Plec to talk about the new series and reveal that it will be unlike The Originals and The Vampire Diaries was in format.

Instead, Legacies will have a “monster of the week” format.

“There is definitely an overall big bad that we slowly hint at, but we’re doing something on this particular series that I have never done before, which is embracing, not always but often, a monster of the week,” Julie shared.

Danielle added, “It’s something we’ve been so, so excited talking about. We’re like, ‘This is what’s going to make our show different. This is what’s going to make our show so good!’”

Another thing discussed were Caroline and Alaric’s twins, Lizzie and Josie, who are Gemini witches and that makes them a target.

Caroline won’t be appearing in every episode, however, she will be on a mysterious mission regarding the “long term survival of [her] daughters.”

The Originals' Danielle Rose Russell Will Star in Potential New Hope-Centric Series for The CW - Details

Danielle Rose Russell might be playing Hope Mikaelson for a while longer — Deadline reports that there are plans for a potential new spinoff series, like it was predicted.

The series will star Danielle, as well as Matt Davis as Alaric, Aria Shahghasemi as Landon, and three new actors – Quincy Fouse, Jenny Boyd and Kaylee Bryant.

The potential new show won’t have a “backdoor pilot”, but instead a “short video presentation, largely compiled from scenes in the final 13-episode season of The Originals, which has been designed to lead to the potential offshoot.”

The Hope spinoff will vy for one of the pilot spots for the CW’s 2018-19 schedule.

TVD's Matt Davis Had A Massive Crush on His 'Legally Blonde' Co-Star

TVD's Matt Davis Had A Massive Crush on His 'Legally Blonde' Co-Star

Matt Davis, who you know best from The Vampire Diaries, was also in Legally Blonde.

That’s right, Alaric WAS Warner Huntington III, and even better, had a major crush on his co-star Selma Blair.

“I absolutely loved and adored Selma,” Matt revealed in a new interview. “I developed a crush on her at the time but she was with someone else – I think she was dating the guy from Rushmore [actor Jason Schwartzman] [and] he was coming around and I was kind of like, ‘who is this guy?!’”

Matt adds that Selma was easily the “funniest person on set. I love a very dry, dark sense of humor, so she had me in stitches the whole time.”

And his crushies didn’t stop there — Matt also “fanboyed out” and embarrassed himself when he met Reese Witherspoon too.

“I felt starstruck by all this because it happened so quickly and I hadn’t adjusted,” he admits. “I definitely wasn’t cool. At the first table read, I just kept going on and on about how much I loved her work, fawning all over her.”

“I remember turning beet-red and later getting back in my car and just slapping my forehead, feeling like a fool,” he remembers.

BRB, going to re-watch Legally Blonde with all this newfound knowledge.
