Sofia Richie Was Glad Dad Lionel Said No To Her About a Music Career When She Was Younger

Sofia Richie wears a braid in the middle part of her hair while out with friends in New York City on Friday afternoon (March 18).

The 17-year-old model stopped by to chat with ET recently and opened up about how her dad, Lionel, held her off from an early music career.

“When I was 13, I was saying that I wanted to be signed to a label. I was begging my dad to get me signed with somebody,” she shared. “I’m glad he held me off, because I really found myself and found what I truly wanted to do.”

Sofia added, “At the time, it was heartbreaking. I was determined that I was so ready, and I was in the perfect spot to do all these crazy things, but I just needed to grow up and learn about life and that wasn’t going to be as easy I thought it was going to be.”
