James Franco Talks Taylor Swift's Instagram in 'New York' Magazine

James Franco recreates a Vincent Van Gough painting on the cover of New York magazine’s April 18-May 1 2016 issue, on newsstands now.

The 38-year-old talked with one of his biggest art critics about performance art, social media and the biggest celebs behind both. Check it.

On Taylor Swift’s Instagram: “Taylor Swift – certain performers, in my opinion, post very kind of PG content. Appealing content, but nothing controversial.”

On Shia Labeouf and performance art: “I was just trying to identify what was maybe going on with him, which was something that I could relate to. Not to his work, but the experience he had. A male actor in his late 20s who’s feeling like his career is out of his hands. Here he is doing these Transformers films that make his career, but he’s feeling like, ‘Oh, I don’t have credibility, and I’m part of this machine.’”
