Tommy Martinez Says Stepping Into Gael's Shoes For 'Good Trouble' Fit Him Perfectly

We’re just hours away from the first season finale of Good Trouble and star Tommy Martinez is looking back at his incredible character in Grumpy Magazine‘s new issue.

The actor, who posed with his adorable pup Howie, opened up about Gael and his impact, how the show depicts real life and more. Check it:

On playing Gael on Good Trouble: “I had never resonated so well with a character before, it just felt like it was me, and I felt so comfortable in it. I try to put my own feet into Gael’s shoes and they just fit perfectly. I didn’t think that one of the first big things that I would get would be a story that is diving into creating some change and really talking about the stuff that is happening in the real world. It’s still hitting me now, and I am beyond grateful for this opportunity.”

On the trouble his character goes through: “That’s what young adult lives are, I’ve experienced it myself. I have created some mess trying to figure out what I want. I think the point of all of that was to show the realness of situations like that. And I stand by it.”

On his current state of mind: “Even at the point that I’m at right now, I still feel like I just started in the industry and I’m no guru at it. I’m still figuring out things as I go and I might say things that are wrong, but that may seem right in my head. People are constantly growing, and that’s how I am.”
