Purple Hearts follows aspiring singer-songwriter Cassie and military man Luke, who in spite of their apparent differences, fall hopelessly in love.

“There are so many aspects and so much depth to the character of Luke that are a great match with Nick’s talent,” director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum said in a statement. “He has the range to play the character’s military strength, troubled family background and vulnerability in his character’s growing relationship with ‘Cassie,’ and his chemistry with Sofia is undeniable.”

If you didn’t know, at the time the movie was first announced back in November, Charles Melton was attached as the male lead.

Sofia will not only star, but she will also executive produce, as well as write and perform original music for the film.
