VidCon Cancels 2021 Event Amid Rising COVID Cases, Announces 2022 Dates

Fans will no longer be able to go see their favorite online creators in October.

VidCon has announced that the upcoming 2021 convention has now been canceled, due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Though there will no longer be an event this year, the annual convention will return to the summer in 2022.

“We were so confident that we’d be able to put on the VidCon you know and love this October and could not wait to reconnect with all of you IRL. Unfortunately, due to the recent increases in COVID-19 cases and evolving health & safety mandates, we have come to the difficult but right decision to cancel VidCon this October,” General Manager of VidCon Jim Louderback said in a statement, shared to Twitter.

“We just can’t risk the health & safety of our attendees, creators, speakers, sponsors, and staff – and we want to ensure we provide EVERYONE with the very best VidCon experience. We really, really can’t wait to see you in June 2022!” he added.

The VidCon event went virtual in 2020, and will now be skipping this year. In 2022, the annual convention will take place June 22 – 25 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

All 2021 ticket holders will be automatically transferred to the 2022 event though anyone may request a full refund through June 3, 2022.
