Selena Gomez Could Make History at This Year's Emmy Awards

Selena Gomez is poised to potentially make history at the upcoming 2022 Emmy Awards!

The 29-year-old actress could be receiving multiple nominations at the ceremony, which is set to take place on September 12th.

The nominations ceremony is set for July 12th, which is just ten days before Selena‘s birthday.

This year, Selena has the potential for a nomination in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and she could be getting a nom for the show overall, for Outstanding Comedy Series. Selena and her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short are executive producers on the show, so they would be part of the nomination.

If, or when, Selena is nominated, she would only be the third Latina to receive a Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nomination, following Rita Morena in 1983 for 9 to 5, and America Ferrera in 2007 and 2008 for Ugly Betty.

Selena could also be only the second Latina ever to be nominated for the Outstanding Comedy Series as a producer, following Salma Hayek for Ugly Betty in 2007.

Selena Gomez is no stranger to the Emmys though. Her last TV series, Wizards of Waverly Place, was nominated for Outstanding Children’s Program at the Creative Arts Emmys four times, and they won twice!
