Halle Bailey & Phylicia Pearl Mpasi Star In 'The Color Purple' Trailer - Watch Now!

Halle Bailey will be starring in her second movie musical later this year – The Color Purple!

The 23-year-old The Little Mermaid actress stars in the just released first trailer for the upcoming new reimagining, alongside Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, as they play sisters Nettie and Young Celie, respectively.

The Color Purple tells the story of “the extraordinary sisterhood of three women who share one unbreakable bond” and is based off of the novel by Alice Walker and the Tony-award winning Broadway musical.

Also starring in the film are Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Fantasia Barrino in her film debut.

Danielle is actually reprising the role of Sofia, for which she made her Broadway debut with, and was even nominated for a Tony!

The Color Purple is slated to be released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2023 in the US and internationally on January 18th.
