'The Flash' Director Thinks Ezra Miller Should Return If There's a Sequel

The director of The Flash is opening up about the future of the DC character and it’s star Ezra Miller.

Andy Muschietti, who helmed the upcoming film, recently shared that he thinks the 30-year-old actor should in fact return to portray The Flash/Barry Allen if a sequel happens.

See what he said inside…

“If [a sequel] happens, yes,” Andy shared during an appearance on an upcoming episode of The Discourse podcast (via The Playlist). “I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them.”

Ezra has, of course, been embroiled in a lot of controversy over the past few years – They were arrested multiple times in Hawaii for assault, were accused of harassing a woman in Germany, were accused of choking someone in Iceland, were accused of hosting three young children and their mom in Vermont in an “unsafe environment,” were charged with felony burglary in Vermont, and were accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a young person they met at age 12.

They have since expressed that they were seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues,” and back in April, Andy said that Ezra was doing “well now.”

The future of The Flash is currently unknown, as it’s not a part of the upcoming new direction of the DCU, but will remain part of a separate faction of the DC cinematic universe that they’re calling DC Elseworlds, where existing properties like The Flash, The Batman, Shazam, Aquaman and Joker can still exist separately from the new DCU.

The upcoming The Flash film has been receiving high praise from studio execs and critics who have seen early screenings.

The DC movie is set to hit theaters on June 16th. Check out the final trailer here!
