 Humbled (and excited) to share our official release date for our live action @disneystudios MOANA June 27, 2025,” Dwayne wrote.

Dwayne will be reprising his role of the demigod Maui. Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the original animated movie, will also serve as an executive producer.
While Auli’i won’t be reprising her role of Moana, she has assured that she will be helping to find the perfect actress to play her.
“In this live-action retelling, I will not be reprising the role. I believe it is absolutely vital [that] the cast accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell,” Auli’i said in a video. “So, as an executive producer of the film, I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit, and emotional strength.”
The live action Moana will hit theaters on June 27, 2025.
